One of my favorite holidays all year is Thanksgiving. Every year my family and I go down to Clearwater Beach, Florida and stay with my cousins. As we pull up, I see the sea oats and remember all the fun I’ve had in year’s past. The first touch of the cool ocean is like being awakened from a long sleep. The smell of food is very antagonizing since we can’t eat anything until the rest of the family gets there. I can almost taste the yummy food being cooked. The whap of the whiffle ball bat is the dominant sound outside. As the boys are losing ball after ball over the condos, my girl cousin and I try to chase them. This is as pointless as trying to drown a fish. While outside is fun, inside is also packed with people. Televisions all over the house have been blaring either ESPN or TLC. Even though I’m inside I still smell the salt in the sea air. It isn’t just salt I smell! It is a mixture of a fishy smell with seaweed, and of course sunscreen. Every night as we go to bed we feel the sand all in our beds. After we leave the condo, it looks like tornadoes came through it. Seeing all of my family is fantastic because I can’t see some of them on a regular basis.
